Brandon: In today’s podcast, we are answering a question someone asked about obsessing about goals and how to stop doing that, especially about when you release on a goal. How do you not drop the goal entirely? That’s something that’s very important. A lot of people want to release the resistance on their goals, but not drop the goal itself. We will be talking about that today.

When Releasing Doesn’t End an Obsession
Brandon: First, I would like to read the question that we are asked before we get started about the topic today. Our reader asks:
There is this goal that I am obviously obsession over. I am very much aware that it is obsession that I feel and not persistence. The problem is, I don’t seem to know how to back off a bit. I try to calm down, but my thoughts would just go back to my goal, or lack of it in my life. I try to feel my negative feelings as deeply as I can, and there seems to have been a bit of progress when it comes to me releasing those negative emotions, but the negative emotions don’t seem to run out. I haven’t yet felt any significant relief from this, and it’s getting really exhausting. I just want my peace of mind. How do I release while not dropping the goal entirely? How do I chill a bit when it comes to this goal?
Brandon: That’s a really good question. It’s one that a lot of people can identify with, which is why I’m doing it in this podcast. I get questions all the time about people who are thinking about their goal all day. I oftentimes get clients where they are visualizing for hours a day or they just keep thinking about their goal all day. I always tell people, “You have to let go of your goal. You have to not think about it all day long. As long as you’re thinking about the goal, nothing shifts.”
Christine: I feel like it gets kind of exhausting. You’re always thinking about your goal. Then eventually you’re going to get sick of it. Why would you want to think about it all the time?
Brandon: I think it gets more very emotionally tiring.
Christine: Yes, it does.
Obsession Makes Something a “Big Deal”
Brandon: Because people really want it. It becomes this really big deal. The more they think about it, the bigger of a deal it becomes. Actually, that’s kind of an issue. As I’ve said in the past (and you probably have heard this from other law of attraction teachers), anything that’s a big deal can’t manifest. If it seems like a big deal to you, you can’t manifest it, because it’s a big deal. It’s something that’s big to you.
That big feeling means that you have resistance. If you totally believe something is possible and you feel like you can have it, it doesn’t feel big. The more you obsess about this goal, the bigger it appears, the more impossible it appears, and the more resistance you have. All you’re really doing is pushing against what is. That’s really what ends up happening when you’re obsessing all day. Like I said, a lot of people are doing this and I have to try to convince them. [laughs] You need to back off a little bit. You really have to just let go and not be thinking about this so much.
Christine: Ask them how it’s been working for them.
Brandon: That’s exactly what I do. What are the results you’re getting? I believe that this is a real process and principle of the universe that works. It should always work in the same way for everyone. I hate when people say, “Well, this works for some people.” No, it works for everyone. It’s not subjective. It is a real principle or law of the universe.
If you’re obsessing, it’s not going to work out. If you can look at your life and see what kind of results you’re getting, that’s the one way to know what your vibration is or how you feel about the subject. If you look at your life and see your manifestations, that will tell you. I said this to someone the other day.
Two Ways to Discover What Your Subconscious is Doing
Brandon: Two things. Your current manifestations and your current emotional response to the goal are a window into your subconscious. They show you how you’re currently feeling. If you’re getting good manifestations—positive, wanted manifestations—then it means that you’re in a good place in your subconscious regarding this goal. If you’re getting negative manifestations, then obviously you’re not so much. It cannot contradict.
Same with emotions. If you’re feeling pretty good emotions when you think about your goal (I mean authentic, not like you’re hyping yourself up into some really awesome, joyful place but it’s fake) then you’re in alignment with your goal. If you’re feeling negative emotions, then it means that you’re not.
Same with the manifestations. Both of those things are sort of a window into your subconscious showing where you are in respect to your goal. The thing is, a lot of times (I just had someone do this recently) [laughs] they say they’re feeling good most of the time, so they don’t get why they’re not getting most of their goals and why nothing is happening. I said, “A lot of people say this, and then they actually start paying attention, and then they’re not feeling so great.” She came back several days later and said, “You’re actually right. I wasn’t feeling as good as I thought.” Do you remember that, Christine?
Christine: No, I don’t remember that specific thing. I was laughing because it’s like you forget that you don’t always feel good. There’s a delete button in your subconscious. “Oh, yeah, let’s forget about the stuff you don’t feel.” “Oh, I generally feel good.”
Brandon: We try to ignore or forget about those times when we’re feeling bad. This is the issue. If you’re obsessing about your goal, you are making it bigger, and that’s not a positive thing. So how do you not do that? I want to address this question in a few different ways. The first question was about how to stop obsessing about your goal, how to release it. The second part of the question was about how to release it without actually dropping the goal. I think some people are afraid that if I release this, then what if I don’t actually want it after all? I don’t want that to happen.
Action is Not a Long-Term Solution
Brandon: The first part, I have to talk about why you want your goal. This is a part that people don’t like. I had a discussion with a client about this where they weren’t so happy about it. [laughs] Basically, it’s this: in order to get your goal, you have to do the inner work. You can’t just force your way through.
Here’s the thing. A lot of people that I talk to for a while will rely on action. By action, I don’t just mean physical action. I also mean visualization. I also mean affirmations. I mean effort. They’ll rely on that. It’ll work for them for a while.
But the thing about that is, first of all, it doesn’t make them any happier. I’ll ask someone, “Do you feel any happier from getting this stuff through action?” Not really, no. It really doesn’t make them any happier.
Second of all, it makes for less stable manifestations because you get a manifestation that you’re actually not quite in alignment with, so you feel unprepared and you often lose it because you weren’t ready for it. You weren’t a vibrational match for it.
You can force your way through and get those things, a lot of times. But how many people are there who are millionaires or even billionaires who don’t have an ounce of happiness? Some people are suicidal or just in deep depression, and they’re crazy rich. That’s a thing. Or people who are in a marriage. It might be actually a good relationship, but they’re still depressed. Or people who have good health and still are not feeling great. Anything that’s out there, you can have and yet not feel happy.
So when you try to take the action steps without aligning first, then even if it does work (which for a lot of people, it won’t) you won’t like the result. You have to do the inner work. We have to talk about why you want this goal.
I have been noticing. You may not see this with a lot of law of attraction teachers, because they don’t talk about this aspect of things. They sort of skate over it, but I have been noticing the law of attraction is sort of a gateway or path leading to deeper spirituality.
Christine: It really is.
Confront Why You Think You Need that Goal
Brandon: Simply because of this: the law of attraction requires you to let go of the things you want. Let go of those wants. I’m not saying let go of the things, but let go of those wants. In order to let go of those wants, it requires you to confront why you feel like you need them so much. Why do you feel you’ll suffer without them?
It requires you to find a way to be happy now, without those things. Those things just become icing on the cake. What ends up happening when you do that enough is that you’re complete and whole. Anything you might get—sure, it’s wonderful, but it really doesn’t matter.
We’re terrified of this. All we really want—people who come to the law of attraction, especially people who are very new to it or are working on big goals—is the goal. I just want my desire right now.
I just wrote an email about this yesterday to anyone who is on my mailing list about when you just want your goal. It doesn’t work that way. The law of attraction requires you to face that and do the inner work and get to a place of contentment without the goal. Like I said, people are terrified of this because the ego says, “I want this goal and I want it now.” [laughs]
Christine: The thing is, though, we oftentimes have life backwards. We think that life is such a physical thing. We’re on this physical earth. We want physical things, but life is really about the inward journey, not the outward journey. It’s about growing closer spiritually and things like that. Then, as a result, we get the outer things. But in the end, everything is energy anyway, so it doesn’t even really matter. You have to focus inwardly, always.
The Catch-22 of the LOA
Brandon: There’s this catch-22 that anyone who has been using the LOA will encounter after a while. That catch-22 is simply that as long as you want your goal, you can’t have it. The moment you stop wanting it, you’ll get it.
I had a client last year who wanted a specific person in a relationship so much. I kept trying to get her to let go, let go, let go. Eventually, she came to the conclusion that actually maybe he wasn’t as much of a match to her as she thought. Now prior to this, she was having no success whatsoever. He just wasn’t paying attention to her. She wasn’t seeing much success.
The moment she realized actually, maybe he’s not as much of a match as I thought, and she dropped that yearning or wanting, he was all over her. [laughs] Just instantly. She didn’t do anything different outwardly. She was just open to whatever experiences happened and let things evolve. The moment she dropped that desiring, yearning, and wanting, it just happened, almost instantly.
I point to that because that outlines perfectly the catch-22 we find ourselves in in the law of attraction. As long as you want it—and the more you want it—the less you’ll get it. Once you stop wanting it so much, you’ll get it. That doesn’t mean you can’t get things that you would like to have. It means that you can’t get things that you want, and there is a difference.
Brandon: So that’s the main catch-22, and that’s why I’m saying the law of attraction leads you to this spiritual path. You have to come to terms with being able to be happy right now, even without your goal. Not having it, and that being okay. Then the goal comes, but by the time it comes, it really doesn’t matter. It really is all about the journey. It really is all about the journey. It’s not really about the destination at all.
Christine: I was going to say that earlier, too, which is really funny. [laughs] No, because life—even the LOA is about the journey to the goal. It’s not even about getting it in the end. That’s just the icing on the cake.
Brandon: Right. It’s just the icing on the cake by the time it comes. There’s nothing, no tricks or anything else like that—“If I say these words, snap my fingers, or wiggle my nose, my goal will just pop into existence.” [laughs] There’s nothing out there that will let that happen.
Again, you can force things with action or even visualization, affirmation, and stuff like that, but it won’t really work for you. It doesn’t bring you the thing that you thought it would bring you. That’s the issue.
I know it seems like a tangent, but it’s really not because it’s pertinent to this whole topic. The question is about how to stop obsessing about the goal, so that’s what we’ll talk about. I want to talk about the importance of why you do have to stop obsessing and let go and not have such a death grip on the goal. We’re going to take a quick break, and then we’ll be back to talk about that subject.
Wanting is Lacking
Brandon: Okay, welcome back to Co-Create Your Life. We’re talking about obsession and how to stop obsessing about your goal. I was talking about the catch-22 of the law of attraction, which is as long as you want it, you can’t have it. I think this is stated perfectly in the Sedona Method. I’m sure probably most of you have probably heard of that. The Sedona Method is a method of letting go or releasing. It’s what I use the most, among some other things, but it’s one of my favorites.
It’s stated perfectly there because it says wanting and having are mutually exclusive. Wanting is synonymous with lack. If you want, you lack. Look around you at your life. Anything that you want, do you have it? No, you lack it. If you look at your computer, do you want your computer? You might say, “I want the things my computer offers.” Not in the same way, though. That’s not the same feeling at all.
You don’t want your computer in the way of wanting to achieve or get it. You already have it. The feeling of having it is this nice, soft, gentle satisfied feeling of “It’s here.” The thing you really, really want—is that feeling the same? No. [laughs] Not even a little. The goal really has to get to the point of being that more “having” feeling, that gentle, contented, satisfied feeling of “It’s here,” even before you get the goal. That’s ideal.
Christine: Because it is there, really. Energetically, it is there. Everything that is created is made of energy anyway. It’s just it takes itself in a physical form.
Brandon: Right, exactly. Everything that you think or have desired is already done and is in some way out there. That’s really helpful. I just read a book called “The Remembering Process” that outlined this really well. One of my favorite books about this stuff (anything you want is already completed and out there in some way and you can tune into that). You have to get to that place of having.
I love that often-quoted saying from Einstein that the consciousness of the problem and the consciousness of the answer are not the same. If you have a problem, you can’t have the solution. As long as you’re aware of the problem or are feeling it, you can’t get to the solution. Same with the question and answer. It’s the same thing. As long as you’re aware of the question, you can’t have the answer to the question. The answer and the question are two totally different wavelengths that don’t exist in the same place.
As long as you’re aware of the lack of the goal, you can’t have the goal. It’s that simple. The process is of releasing that want. Now how do you do that, exactly?
Make Peace with What You Have
Brandon: The first part of it is making peace with what you already have. A lot of why you want something is because we’re pushing against what we have now. I believe I talked about that a little bit in our last podcast. I’ve been talking about that a lot on the mailing list. Making peace with what is (with your current situation) is pretty much step one to any manifestation. You have to get to the point where you’re not pushing against what is.
The law of attraction is about energy. The energy of things operates by the principle that whatever you push against, gets stronger, and whatever you cling on to, slips away from you. That’s an extremely important thing to realize. If you’re pushing against it, it’s getting stronger. If you’re clinging on to it, it’s going to go away.
If you look at your life, you can probably see that. Look at the things you’ve pushed the most against. Did they not get stronger? Did they not get bigger, even if only in your own head, but probably in reality as well? Look at the things you desperately clung on to and wanted to keep in your life. Did they not get weaker, maybe even go away entirely? Unless you changed your attitude, then maybe it didn’t. But if you’re clinging on to it, it probably slipped away. Have you had experiences like that, Christine?
Christine: Oh, yes. For sure. There are certain things that I wanted. The thing is, I was really good at manifesting when I was little. I think everyone is. Somehow I was able to have that balance, but then, growing up, it’s like how do you get that back? It’s hard because what you think you’re doing, you’re really just fighting it. You’re fighting against what reality is because you want something so much that it’s overlaying it.
Brandon: The more you cling on to something, it gets weaker. It slips away.
Christine: It reminds me. I was reading a book. There’s this little kid who is scared of everything except this dog. He was holding that dog so hard, the dog almost died. [laughs] Because he was clinging on to him because he was scared of everything else. He was abused in the book. It’s fictional. We don’t really know. Anyway, this dog just took to him, and he took to the dog. He just wouldn’t let go. He had him around the neck and wouldn’t let go. He almost killed him.
Brandon: Really? Wow.
Christine: Yes. Clinging.
Brandon: Clinging, yes. I’ve experienced that a lot of times. I really want something. I try to get it. I try to cling on to it.
Christine: I still do it. I still do it. My job that I have—I actually didn’t know if I wanted it at first, which was interesting because I wasn’t really actively going after the goal. I was like, “I didn’t really want it at first.” Then I got it. I was like, “Actually, this is what I want.” That was a total surrender.
Brandon: Yes, it was. That’s something important to realize—pushing versus holding on to and what that does. As long as you’re pushing against what is, then it only gets stronger. Your goal does not, obviously. That’s the first part of it: making peace with what’s here right now, letting it be okay right now, not needing it to change right this instant. That’s extremely important.
Ego Desires and True Desires
Brandon: Here’s the part I really want to outline. Why do you want your goal? I consider that there are really two parts of us that may want something. I don’t want to say “want.” May decide to go after something. There’s the ego part, which is really the false part. It goes after something because of something it perceives it lacks. That’s really important.
The ego goes after anything and everything. It never goes after something out of joy. Never. It always goes after something because of something it perceives it lacks that this thing can give it (so it thinks). Think of any goal you’ve ever really wanted. Why did you want it? You wanted it because of something you thought it would give you that you currently lacked. It could be an emotional state. It could be an experience, anything. Ultimately it’s probably some kind of emotional state or completeness, wholeness, peace, or joy. You thought that goal would give you something that you thought you do not have right now.
Then there’s the other part of you, which is the true you or true self or awareness or beingness, whatever you want to call that. It never wants anything because it never lacks anything. But if it ever goes after something, it’s because of joy, fun, or just having the experience. It’s a game to it. It’s playfulness. The trick or truth of it is, those goals that you really, really, really, really want—guess which part of you wants that?
Christine: The ego.
Brandon: The ego, yes. That inner part of you or true part of you would never want something so much. Not even at all. It might say, “Yes, that sounds like a fun experience,” but it would not yearn after it. The more you want something, the more ego involvement there is in that. That means the more you’re stuck or the more you’re focused on that lack. Here’s the issue with the ego. When you’re so focused on trying to get something because you perceive it will give you something that you lack, what do you think you’re focused on? Are you focused on having something or lacking something?
Christine: Lacking it.
Brandon: Right. You are focused on how much you don’t have that thing, and how much this goal will give you that thing. You’ll be complete once you have it. It’s a lie. It’s a lie. Has that ever been true?
Christine: The ego is very selfish. [laughs]
Brandon: Have you ever gotten something long-term from a goal (at first, you might be really super happy because of the release of wanting in that moment) that actually made you more whole or complete? No. It just usually fades away.
Christine: The day after Christmas effect.
Brandon: That’s what I call it: the day after Christmas effect. Thank you. [laughs]
Christine: It’s so true, though. There were gifts I’d want. I’d get them. A day later, I’m like, “Okay, so why did I put so much energy into wanting this thing?”
Brandon: Right. When you actually get a goal, it never turns out like you think it will. It never gives you that completeness that you thought you would get from it. Never. Look at any of the goals you’ve ever gotten, and see if it’s ever been true. I can promise it never happens. That’s the issue. The ego wants something because of the perception that that thing can give it something it lacks. As long as that’s the reason you want something, you’re focused on the lack and you’ll get the lack. You can’t get something in that way. You can’t get something from the focus on lack.
Look at your current goal, anyone who’s listening and especially the person who asked the question. Look at your current goal and ask yourself, “Why do I want this?” Not just why, but what do I perceive this thing will give me that I don’t have right now? As I said, the answer (whatever the answer is) is an utter lie because you don’t lack anything right now.
The LOA and Deeper Spirituality
Brandon: That’s why this is the gateway to spirituality or realization in a certain sense. The more you do this, the more you realize you don’t actually lack anything now. What do you think you’ll get from that goal that you perceive you lack right now? That’s where your issue is. You perceive you lack that thing.
You’re desperately trying to get it, but it’s right here already. You have it. You are it. It could be abundance. It could be security. It could be just feeling good. It could be happiness. It could be feeling approval. It could be any number of things that you perceive you lack and want it. You think this goal will get it for you, but it’s not true. It’s a lie.
The important thing to do is let go of wanting that thing. The underlying thing that you think you lack—you find a way to let go of wanting that. Because you already have it. There’s nothing wrong with having security, approval, happiness, or anything like that. But when you perceive you lack it and you want it, same sort of thing: you can’t have it. So you let go of wanting that. You let go of wanting it, which means you let go of lacking it. When you can feel you have everything right now or take away the foundation of what held up that want for that goal, the goal just sort of pops in a certain sense. It becomes a lot smaller. Imagine your biggest goal, and the reason for that just dissolves out from under you because you already have it. What’s left?
Christine: That’s so true.
Brandon: What’s left? Just an experience that may be nice to have. It doesn’t mean you can’t go for it. I’m not telling you not to go for your goal. I’m telling you that the reason you want it is a lie and that you already have it. The goal won’t actually give it to you. It’s never true. Once that dissolves, all that’s left is something that might be nice to experience to have. You might prefer it. You might have a slight preference for it, but you’re not going to suffer.
The question I’ve been asking, “Will you suffer without this goal?” If the answer is yes, it’s ego. If the answer is no, then fine. That’s what you want. How could you obsess about something that you don’t think will give you anything you don’t already have?
It’s like if you have a million dollars and I come up to you and give you another dollar. “Hey, look, here’s another dollar. Woohoo.” Now if you have one dollar and I give you another dollar, it’s like, “Ah.” [laughs] “Here’s another dollar. It doubled my income. My net worth has just doubled.” [laughs] If you don’t have a car, and I come up to you and give you a car, it’s like, “Yay.” If you have a hundred cars, it’s like,“Okay.” [laughs] I don’t know who would have a hundred cars, but the example came to mind.
That’s the kind of thing I mean. If you don’t perceive you lack it, then it doesn’t matter anymore, so how could you possibly obsess over it? I’m asking you to deflate your goal a little bit. Make it not so big, important, pressing, or necessary to have it right this second. Then it just won’t matter as much. Once you can do that, then I promise you you won’t obsess. You can’t try not to obsess. The obsession is a symptom of what you’re doing and where, consciously, you are. The consciousness you’re in around this goal. It’s a symptom of that and that suffering and (I’m sorry) insanity.
Christine: Well, it is, but look at people who have OCD. That’s pretty much sort of OCD inwardly.
Brandon: Right, right. The obsession is just a symptom. Once you let go of why that obsession is happening, it won’t happen anymore. But you can’t get rid of the obsession while keeping the wanting. It just won’t work. So do that. I know it’s a big task (or it seems, anyway), but it’s necessary. Why can’t I just get it? It just doesn’t work that way.
Christine: Gimme, gimme, gimme.
Will You Lose All Interest in the Goal?
Brandon: Exactly. Once you do that, then you’ll be naturally focused on the having. “Okay, I already have everything that I need, so it’s not really important.” You asked, “How can you not drop the goal in its entirety?”
Here’s one last part. I talked about ego versus true self. If the goal was entirely rooted in the ego, then the whole thing will dissolve. If there was something authentic about it, something of your true essence, then it won’t all dissolve, but all that will be left is that purity.
If it’s all ego, there’s not going to be anything left, but then it wasn’t good anyway. Some people will want something, and it’s only because of ego. Then, when they release, yes, that will dissolve entirely. Usually those are the things they want. I want to say this, but I don’t want to say just because you want something a lot, it’s ego all the way, but a lot of times, the thing that we’re so craving and yearning for because of suffering, it’s a lot of ego. When we drop it, it will just dissolve.
Now, there could be purity in there from our awareness, and that is what will remain. It’s putting it to the fire, so to speak. I don’t remember. I was trying not to reference this because I don’t remember the exact verse or what it said, but there’s something in the Bible. You may be aware of this, Christine. It says being put to the fire. It’s in the New Testament. All the impurities will be burned away.
Christine: I think it’s in one of the letters.
Brandon: Probably. I think so. All that’s left is…
Christine: Diamond. I think about diamonds.
Brandon: That’s kind of what it is. When your desire is put to that fire through releasing, then all that’s left is the purity of it, if anything. If there’s nothing left, then it was bad to begin with. But if there’s something left, then that’s the pure part of it. You don’t worry about dropping it entirely because if you burn it away and there’s something left, then that’s the true part. That’s important.
It reminds me of why I took that job last year. I took the job because I wanted more money. It ended up being kind of a false desire. I mean, I’m glad I did it because of what I could get out of it and the coaching I got, but it’s sort of a false desire because it ended up dissolving away once I realized what the true nature of it was. The true desire that’s always stayed with me for two and a half years (and really for a lot longer, because I always wanted to help people) is to help people wake up to who they are and to live the kind of life they want to.
It’s not just about getting the stuff you want. It’s about waking up to who you are and being happy. That’s really what it’s about. That is really what has remained after everything. You don’t have to worry about what you really want dissolving away, because it won’t if there is something of truth in it. If there’s not, then you don’t want it. You don’t want to go after it.
Again, I know that’s not what everyone wants to hear about any of this. This is why I’m tired of “The Secret” and a lot of law of attraction books and a lot of the teachings that say, “Have what you want now. Have all these shiny nice things. Just visualize. Just create vision boards. Just create affirmations. That’s all you have to do, and everything is yours. You’ll have the wonderful life you want.” It’s this ego candy. [laughs] That’s the best term I can come up with for it. It’s this ego candy. If you do A, B, and C, all the money will show up on your doorstep. The person that you’re supposed to be with will show up on your doorstep. Everything you’ve ever wanted will just show up on your doorstep, and you won’t have to worry about anything ever again.
Christine: The thing is, what’s the point of that? Why?
Brandon: Right. None of that’s true.
Christine: No. Why are we living, then? You can get that when you die. Not to be morbid. It’s about the journey.
Brandon: It’s ego candy. I get it because it gets people’s attention, but the truth of it is, you can only get what you want by letting it go. [laughs] It’s a sick sort of joke.
Christine: It is a joke.
Brandon: You were attracted by all these ideas of getting everything you ever wanted, and actually, you have to let it go and not need it in the first place. Then it will come, probably, but it won’t matter by then. It won’t matter by then.
Christine: By the tons, probably.
Brandon: Yes, exactly, but by that time it won’t even matter. Okay, cool, but I’m already complete, so whatever. That’s a sort of joke. It is a joke. The whole thing’s a joke. You can get things. You get what you think about. Lester Levenson always said this, “You get whatever your mind thinks about.” You always have. When you’re needing a desire, what are you really thinking about? You’re really thinking about lack. You get what you’re thinking about. When you release that, the desire’s gone, and you start thinking about abundance. You start thinking about whatever. It’s a natural thing. You don’t need it anymore. It’s just there.
Christine: It’s just for fun.
Brandon: For him, it was a game for him. After he became awakened, he decided to become a millionaire just because. That sounds fun. I think I’ll do this. He decided to leave it all and move to Arizona just on a whim. It all worked out. Money showed up when he needed it, whatever. Everything he did was just, “I think I’ll do this.” None of it was lack. None of it was desire. You can get what you want, just not in the way you’re doing it. That’s it. I’ll stop preaching now about that. [laughs] It’s just really important. A lot of people don’t want to listen to that, but it’s so vital. It’s so important that you see that. I hope that this helps, especially with those who are obsessing about your goals. I know this is the last thing you want to hear, but it’s the truth of it. I promise you, if you put this to the test or try it out, you will get that thing or something better.
Christine: But don’t do it in order to get the thing.
Brandon: Exactly. That’s going to be my next blog post. Don’t do it in order to get it. Don’t do this process in order to get that thing, because that’s just another form of self-sabotage. It’s another form of focusing on the lack. “If I manipulate the universe in just such a way, then it will give me what I want. If I press the right buttons, the candy will come out.
